The software's title is "Interior Design Planner" which is accurate. For the price, it's a fair program but if you really want to do some designing, I don't think this is the app for it. You are severely limited only to what is available as to furniture, and a lot of their furniture and furnishing are so modern European, not what I always want in my designs. I was able to save off my layouts by using "SaveAs" and navigating to my thumb drive, but then I had to wrestle to delete the copy hogging my hard drive. They did send out one upgrade but I have no idea what was upgraded, I see no difference anywhere. I am at a standstill and now wonder if buying the far more expensive AutoCad and then spending more time having to learn it would have been a better choice. When I try to run a troubleshooting scan, it asks which Windows version I am using but does not list Win10. Can't delete those without digging into the program files which on Win10 is not easy. There is also no easy way to delete a layout, like the designs I tried but decided just won't work. I haven't even added anything new to my designs and it crashes. All this should come in the software and more should be available through downloads, even if there's a slight cost involved for the add-ins.įollow up after using for several months:Īlthough I like this app well enough, I have found now that it crashes with almost every layout I open. Colors should also have some general patterns: plaid, pastel floral, geometric, pencil strips, bold strips, paisley. I wish the app came with some general Textures too-fabric, leather, woven, felted, fur, kind of like that to give a real general feeling. I also think there are far too few items that can be used and maybe the styles and designs are a little too specific (using a more generic "compact car" rather than a specific model, or "motorcycle" since the place could be housing a Harley-Davidson gang) would work better, maybe even making it more country specific (bathroom facilities in the US differ from those in Japan). or having the ability to indicate which items go on top or "in front" give the user the ability to add or delete categories (I keep putting things in Miscellaneous for lack of anywhere else to put them). Making windows and doors a different color from the walls would help, or putting end brackets that stick out slightly from the walls indicating where "something" is would work (2) having a slight transparency sliders so furniture could be put on carpets without losing the idea that there's a rug under these thing, etc. I have two outstanding gripes though: (1) windows and non-hinged doors can't easily be seen in many of the lay-out views unless you enlarge it a lot at which point you cannot see the whole project. I have been able to learn how to use most of it fairly quickly but wasn't immediate or intuitive but that's just fine. I've never used one of these layout apps before but I have manually drawn layouts before.
